INSTANT CURB APPEAL

As homeowners, we are always looking for new ways to spruce up our homes.

Great landscaping can help get the job done. It’s not as simple as throwing a few flowers out front and calling it a day… we want to share some tips with you that will help increase the curb appeal of your home instantly! Continue on to get five of the best tips all homeowners need to know.

Low Maintenance Upkeep

All homeowners have different taste and that’s okay, but low maintenance landscaping means no shedding petals, fewer weeds popping up, and less time spent grooming your garden this summer. It is important to consider the size and structure of your home when deciding on your landscaping choices. For example, you do not want to overcrowd the front of your home, but you also want to ensure you are not skimping on the plants you choose. Consistent placement is crucial.

A low maintenance option that suits many homes nicely is a combination of a few taller trees, mixed in with shorter bushes and decorative grass. You can still incorporate color as decorative grass comes in many colors and all trees are unique to one other.

Hardscaping Helps

When working to revamp your front yard and see immediate improvements in your curb appeal, consider taking advantage of the hardscaping. Hardscaping will help add dimension and texture to your home. Examples of hardscaping include:

  • Walkways
  • Step Stones
  • Retaining Walls
  • Brick/Stone Porch
  • Driveways

Warm & Welcoming Home

We can’t forget about the basics of good curb appeal. Homeowners can increase the appeal of their home by simply ensuring their home is clean. Clean? What does this mean, exactly?

Well, consider power washing any portion of your home that is vinyl siding. You can power wash bricks and stones as well, but vinyl is notorious for visibly showing imperfections. Make sure your front door is nicely painted (or clean and maintained), the hardware on your door is shining and securely attached, and any window panes are clean.

If you’re looking for other ways to make that welcoming even warmer, consider the following ideas:

  • Add two planters on each side of the front door to add a pop of color
  • Use boulders to frame your walkway and provide an inviting and luxurious entry
  • Add trim around your door to offer a more structured appearance
  • Install hooks from your porch “ceiling” and add a few hanging baskets for additional color

Crisp and Clean Edging

Nothing says “great landscaping” more than the edging that surrounds it all. If black diamond edging is your thing, excellent, but don’t forget the many other options out there. You can opt for bricks or decorative pavers as the edging to your landscaping, or even large boulders. And if you really can’t make up your mind, go WITHOUT. Many homeowners are choosing to go without a border and we think it looks awesome.

Monochromatic Color Scheme

Attention all homeowners! This landscaping tip is one of our favorites.

Use monochromatic colors when choosing your plants, flowers, brick pavers, and more.

What is a monochromatic color scheme? Well, everything is very “matchy-matchy”… meaning the same color keeps popping up in various places. When you are dealing with landscaping, this works very well if done properly. When you are choosing brick pavers consider matching the color of your pavers to one of the colors in your shingles. Yes, there are tiny specks of color in your roof shingles. In regards to your flower choices, be sure they are all in the same color family if you’re going for the monochromatic look. For example, you might want to use some bright and vibrant purple flowers, mixed in with a combination of lighter lilac colored flowers. This will be sure to amp up your home’s curb appeal

Even just one of these tips can help work wonders on your home.
